By now all my friends/family etc. have heard that I am on the May-August CreativeCrew Design Team Mega Round Challenge! Woohoo!!! The May gallery at www.splitcoaststampers.com is now open for everyone to view our creations, leave comments, and join in the fun. That's right, even if you haven't done challenges in the past, come and try one of the chalenges or all. Here in Maine some of us would say it is wicked good fun!!
The challenge criteria for my card below is:
CCREW0514DF- DSP/Color Focus: daffodil delight, island indigo, gumball green, smoky slate and use a technique of your choosing that imitates Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Papers. And, last but not least, we were also asked to stretch creatively through different folds and sizes.
My circle thinlits card just barely meets this criteria – when folded completely smaller than A-2 and by adding the extension ( I guess I stretched my imagination that it is not an A-2 card (really?). Check out the pictures below.
Completely closed:

Opened to showing extension folded to inside:

Both sides fully opened. Front:
Back:

Watercolor Background is done on 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" sheet of Shimmery White card stock:
1. Stamp off technique for Daffodil Delight and Smokey Slate flowers.
2. Stamp the Gumball Green stems randomly over flowers.
3. Ink flower stamp with Island Indigo and mist lightly and stamp on background to match stem. Clean stamp and repeat for all flower stems.
4. Cut/punch background as follows: 1 5/8" x 5", 2 1/8" x 5", 1 1/4" Scallop Circle and 2 3/8: Scallop Circle.
Fold:
1. Cut card stock slightly smaller than the inside width of the thinlit so approximately 5 7/16" x 8 1/2"
2. Insert card stock over the top of the right side card edge and slide under the rest of the thinlit until it touches the inside left edge, then run through the Big Shot.
3. The extesion piece will not have a score line made by the right edge of the thinlit, fold this to inside follow instructions with framelits to complete card fold.
If you want the recipe for this card it is posted with my card in the challenge gallery.
Want to see more? Hop on over to the Splitcoaststampers gallery to see all the projects posted by the 25 Creative Crew Alumni that returned for this mega round, each and everyone so unique and different!!

For Splitcoaststampers Creative Crew CCREW0312HF (Holiday Focus) this month, we were asked to Celebrate National crafting month! We were asked to pull that idea that you've been "wanting to do" out and create it. We could use any theme, and create any type of project, decor item, centerpiece, something with fabric, etc.
Well, this is just what I needed to, pull out that pattern I had bought 3 years ago for a purse made with fat quarters. After looking in my fabric closet (yes, I also collected fabric and patterns before stamping) for an hour, I found the pattern I was looking for. Next, I chose the fabrics which was easy! I loved the new Twitterpated Designer Fabric from Stampin' Up! and I also used Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric as well. Below is my completed project.

I created two different cards for this challenge. I love all the colors in the Twitterpated DSP. This was an easy challenge for me as I received a Christmas card with a fold I had never seen before and loved it (larger than our standard card) and had decided to use it for one of SCS Creative Crew Challenges. I made the card so the finished size is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". If you'd like to participate in this month's challenge go over to SCS and search the gallery using CCREW2012DF, SUO upload your card to the February 2012 Challenge Gallery!

My final Creative Crew Challenge focuses on Scrapbooking. CCREW112SB – focus on a past holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas) Scrapbook page or decor item. Use my newest dies, texture plates or embossing folders to create this beauty. Use one or use many Big Shot items. I did not use any 2012 Occasions Mini items as the Occasions Mini is focused on holidays during January – April and spring! I used the following items from Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Holiday Mini catalog: Christmas Lodge Stamp Brush Set (Digital Download #125611),Frostwood Lodge Designer series Paper (#124002) and Pines and Poinsettias stampset. I also used Word Flurries Rub-Ons (retired) on the tag.

I chose Christmas (my favorite holiday) for my holiday scrapbook page. I used the Christmas Lodge digital download for the cut out in the lower right hand corner. I used the following Big Shot items made exclusively for Stampin' Up! — Two Tags die; Northern Frost Decorative Strip, Tasteful Trim Die, and Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on my page.

Another Creative Crew Challenge – Holiday Focus!
Think Valentine's Day All challenges this month focus on things "new" to us. It may not be new, but if we've never done it, it's new to us! My third Creative Crew Challenge – CCREW112HF focuses on the holiday -Valentine's Day. I needed to make a card or decor item using hearts in a new way to me – something I've never done with hearts. Hmmm… first I was stumped and then I remembered a 2011 Leadership swap card that I received from Linda Heller. I loved it and wanted to try this unique fold sometime, so no time like the present. I figured out how Linda made her card and and then went to work on this challenge. This card is like getting 3 cards in 1 — each side is different!
